Unsupported Extras on VB5 CDMany thanks to David Liske for providing this excellent tutorial -check out his personal Web Site. David is an author and reviewer for Wrox Web Developer and also teaches an instructor for ZD University teaching Using VBA With Microsoft Access 97. David originally began this chapter for inclusion in one of his books and was kind enough to let us post it when they decided not to use it. There are lot's of hidden treasures on the VB CD that are easy to overlook -since they don't get installed automatically. Follow along as David talks a little about these extras and create a cool project that uses the unsupported calendar control. What you learn will help you if you decide to explore some of the other nuggets on the CD. Have Fun! I reformatted this chapter and converted it to HTML; I also reduced the image sizes somewhat, so if there are any errors and the pictures aren't perfect it was probably me. It was the only way to reduce the forty page chapter into five lessons. I added this top level page in case you want to jump back to a specific section. Other Resources You may want to check out the WinHelp API tutorial also by David. In his own words; This project was an experiment in translating the C++ API syntax into Visual Basic-compatible code. This is considerably faster than using tha commaon dialog, especially on the older, slower systems. Also, this is a good complement to the tutorial you posted yesterday. If you look at it, the Dialog Automation Objects don't do anything about Help files. This will fill in that void. [Home Page] [Tutorial Page] [Next Lesson]
