Contest Rules
The following general rules apply to the contests; these rules in no way obligate me, the Visual Basic Explorer site, Wrox Press or any other sponsors, advertisers or entities in any way. This is simply my attempt to encourage a little fun while we learn VB.
- Any material you submit must be original material created by you; it must be freeware, and freely distributable. Feel free to include a text file that lists information about you, your email address, URL, an explanation of the program and the statement that it is freeware and freely distributable.
- All contestants are expected to use good naming conventions and comments, where appropriate, to clarify code.
- Contests close on midnight (Eastern Standard Time) on the last day of the month. I hope to post winners by the 15th of the following month (I'll need this time to test each program), and will notify you when the prizes are mailed.
- Please use only the controls specified in the individual project requirements. Please make sure to include any graphics, and project files required. Executables will not be accepted since I need to check out your code.
- Depending on the number of entries recieved, I may only post the top three or four solutions to each problem and make the rest available in one zip file.
- Since I don't have an automated response generated for submissions, I may not be able to acknowledge your submission. Please don't be upset if this happens, your participation is appreciated but the huge volume of mail I recieve, as well as all the other things I'm involved in (including working for a living:) make it difficult. I will review each and every project however.
- I reserve the right to disqualify entries that I feel do not adequately meet the requirements .
- There will be only one beginner prize awarded and one intermediate, both for first place unless I state otherwise on the specific months contest description. Additional submissions may receive recognition on the Visual Basic Explorer and Wrox Press sites, without any prizes.
- Judges decisions are final.
I would like to thank the great people at Wrox Web-Developer for their generous offer to supply prizes for this contest.
